Mercury Glass Heart Decor
Here’s another fun project using one of my clearance frames. I made this one for Valentine’s Day, but you could use any design you’d like.
I started by giving the frame a couple of coats of Champagne Metallic Paint from Fusion Mineral Paint.
I found a lacy heart design and cut out a stencil using my Cricut Maker.
This pattern had a lot of tiny pieces, and it took ages to get it ready to use. I centered it on the glass which I had removed from the frame.
I pounced Rose Gold Metallic Paint from Fusion across the heart design. I like the texture created by pouncing paint rather than brushing it.
I used Iron Orchid Designs stamps (which I think have been discontinued) to create a border with flowers in the corners using Champagne Gold Metallic Paint from Fusion.
I sprayed a couple of thin coats of Rust-Oleum Mirror Effect Spray Paint across the glass and spritzed a little vinegar over it to give the effect of mercury glass.
I covered the mirror paint with a coat of Rust-Oleum Hammered Gold Spray Paint so it would show through the spots left by the vinegar.
I replaced the frame and my new Valentine decor is complete.
The textured frame looks great with the speckled mirror. The combination of metallics blends together and looks so pretty.
Just imagine all the possibilities for a project like this! Words, pictures, holiday symbols and messages, the options are endless. For now, this Valentine mirror makes a great addition to my mantle.
