Rose Wreath Table
This is another piece from my Great Aunt’s house. It’s a solid little coffee table with a shelf underneath and some interesting details on the sides. But overall, its boring. Paint can fix that!
The table got two coats of Country Chic Paint in Sage Advice. It’s a lovely pale green, and it instantly updated this table into something interesting. But of course I didn’t stop there.
When I was thinking about how to paint this table I kept envisioning it as oval, but it’s really a rectangle. My design of a rose wreath was basically round so I used brown paper to create an oval area for my roses.
Using my favorite (discontinued) Painterly Roses Decor Stamps from Iron Orchid Designs, I spaced out where I wanted my rose blossoms to be with an off white chalk paint.
I filled in the rest of the wreath with leaves and vines in a darker shade of green.
Then I filled in the roses with a pale custard yellow and a light peach color. I added dark green veins to the leaves and a few rosebuds as well.
I like layering different greens using the same stamps so that it almost looks like natural shading.
White roses are more difficult than darker colors. You want enough contrast to see the layers, but keep the basic premise of white. I tried a few color combinations before I settled on this one. The table was sealed with a water based sealer from Varathane.
This little table has gone Granny Chic, and I think my Great Aunt would approve.
The wreath of roses really adds something special to this table.
It works as a coffee table, or it can be the basis for an al fresco tea party. What’s not to love?
