Silvery Bathroom Cabinet

I’ve been wanting a small cabinet with doors for the bathroom so I can keep my toothbrush and mouthguard hidden away and the room looks pretty when visitors come over. A couple of weeks ago, my sister and I were on a trip to the beach and we stopped at the Humane Society thrift shop because they sometimes have a big cage of kittens to see. There was only one cat, and it wasn’t a kitten, but we looked around and I found this jewelry chest that looked like it might fit my needs.

I ripped out all the jewelry holders and painted the peachy velvet interior with Waverly Chalk Paint in Peacock.

I removed the hanging jewelry carousels and the faux glass doors and painted the inside Peacock as well.

The door got some small wooden corner appliques. I found these on eBay ages ago.

I gave the outside a thick coat of Folk Art Coastal Texture Paint in Sea Mist. It gives a lovely rough texture that reminds me a bit of leather.

The Sea Mist was a beautiful color, but it was too close to the wall color of my bathroom, so I covered it with Fusion Metallic Paint in Champagne. The texture really popped with the metallic finish.

I wanted a silvery feel, so I added a coat of Country Chic’s Slate Glaze. The plastic windows got a light misting of RustOleum Mirror Effect spray. Just enough so you can’t see through them anymore. I used Royal Stencil Creme in Bronze to highlight the corner appliques and the handles.

Now I have a lovely place to store my toothbrush and mouthguard out of the way of everything.

I can keep toothpaste and floss in the drawers and everything is neat and tidy and matches my bathroom perfectly.
