Wool Felt Wreath
I have a fun little project to share today. I use quite a bit of wool felt in my hat making business, Royal House of Whimsy, and I have lots of scraps left over. I’ve always liked dark green boxwood wreaths and wanted to recreate the look.
I started with a basic wreath form from the Dollar Tree.
I cut some forest green wool felt into six 1.5″ strips (wool felt is 36″ wide). I used hot glue and wrapped the strips around the wreath.
I overlapped each strip about 1/4″ and glued each edge to keep things in place.
I continued until I had wrapped the entire wreath.
Next I cut out some leaves. I made them roughly 2″ long and 1.5″ wide. I made them flat on one edge and glued those edges together to make a cup shape. The whole wreath took about 110 leaves.
I glued the leaves in pairs around the wreath, filling in any blank spots with extra leaves.
I used the rest of the leaves to add an extra row around the center of the wreath to make it fuller.
I added an ivory bow and now it’s a perfect addition to my Spring mantel. I can imagine using this all year long, and might make more in other colors, because I really have a lot of felt scraps!
